The Wrecking Crew's "Farewell to Glen Campbell" @ Bogies in Westlake Village Sun January 27, 6 & 8pm

image187

Join original members of The Wrecking Crew Don Randi, Don Peake & Chuck Berghofer along with an all-star band including Glen Campbell's drummer George Green & some of LA’s finest singers for a multimedia music concert paying tribute to the late, great Glen Campbell, highlighting moments in Glen’s illustrious career with stories of The Wrecking Crew & more. A portion of the proceeds from this show will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association

Glen had a string of hit songs, many backed by The Wrecking Crew, a loose collective of LA-based "go to" session musicians  who played on literally thousands of studio recordings in the 1960s & early 1970s, including several hundred Top 40 hits. After touring with The Beach Boys, filling in for Brian Wilson, Glen played bass, sang falsetto harmonies, and also played guitar on the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds album. Glen Campbell released "Wichita Lineman", a song written by songwriter Jimmy Webb. It was recorded with backing from members of the Wrecking Crew and appeared on Glen’s 1968 album of the same name, reaching #3 on the U.S. pop charts & remaining in the Top 100 for 15 weeks. The song also topped the American country music chart for 2 weeks and the adult contemporary chart for 6 weeks. Campbell won numerous music awards including Grammys for “By the Time I Get to Phoenix” and “I’m Not Gonna Miss You”, nominations for “Wichita Lineman” and “Rhinestone Cowboy”, American Music Awards, and Country Music Awards. Glen's musical career is second to none.

In June 2011, Glen Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. In 2014 he was featured in the documentary I'LL BE ME which examined Alzheimer's & its affect on his musical performances during his final tour across the US with his wife & family. Campbell died on August 8, 2017 at age 81 in Nashville, TN. His legacy lives on through the incredible music he left us.
